Sunterra offers two professional grades of blonde peat moss:

  • Professional Fine Grade — Sunterra’s Professional Fine Grade is a short fiber peat moss which is screened carefully to remove any large material and is ideal when an intensely screened growing media is required. It is typically used in germination, vegetable transplant, golf course production, and is an ideal substrate to be used in smaller cellulose cells and propagation trays.
  • Professional Grower Grade — Sunterra’s Professional Grower Grade peat moss is our most popular product and is the ideal product for growers throughout the greenhouse and mushroom industries. Sunterra’s Professional Grower Grade peat moss has the coarse peat fibers growers need to improve water-holding capacity and drainage. It is used by growers for the production of vegetables, bedding plants, mushrooms and is widely used as a media base for growers who mix their own soils.

In addition to the above standard grades, Sunterra’s flexible screening system enables it to create custom blends that can increase or decrease the amount of coarse fibers to suit our customers needs.

Sunterra offers each of the above grades of peat moss in two sizes:

  • 64-CF-bales64 cubic foot compressed bales —  Sunterra’s 64 cubic foot bales are compressed 2:1, resulting in approximately 128 cubic feet of material after reconstitution. These bales are shipped in waterproof and UV resistant plastic bags, two bales per pallet.  In addition, because we only harvest from the upper most parts of the bog, the bulk density of our peat is among the lowest in the industry, which enables us to ship approximately 48-52 bales per delivery, or up to almost 6,700 cubic feet of material. This means fewer deliveries and less time wasted unloading peat moss trucks.  Each bale is approximately 46” (h) x 52” (l) x 46″ (w).
  • 135-CF-bale135 cubic foot compressed bales — Sunterra’s 135 cubic foot bales are compressed 2:1, resulting in approximately 270 cubic feet of material after reconstitution. These bales are shipped in waterproof and UV resistant plastic bags, one bale per pallet.  Again, because we only harvest from the upper most parts of the bog, the bulk density of our peat is among the lowest in the industry, which enables us to ship approximately 24-26 bales per delivery, or up to almost 7,000 cubic feet of material. This means fewer deliveries and less time wasted unloading peat moss trucks.  Each bale is approximately 92” (h) x 52” (l) x 46″ (w).
